Skin Care For Normal Skin Type

Although hands down the luckiest and most desirable of all skin types, having normal skin doesn’t mean you should neglect your skincare routine!

Even the healthiest of skin can begin to decline if not maintained. While normal skin requires a less particular regimen, using the correct products for this skin type is still necessary to retain optimal skin health.

NORMAL SKINCARE ROUTINE

Your average skincare routine is targeted at normal skin. While you may find your skin is more forgiving than other skin types, finding the perfect routine can make a world of difference in the health of your skin.

For body skin, we want to focus on the basics.

  1. Cleanse

  2. Exfoliate

  3. Moisturise

That’s it!

And, while the most gentle of cleansers and soaps is always advised, you can get away with using slightly harsher soaps if you feel that they don’t irritate your skin.

The purpose of skin care for normal skin is to maintain the health of the skin. Even if your skin maintains healthy status all through your life, age can make it thin and weak. Using your skincare regimen as an opportunity to help nourish and strengthen skin gives you a better chance at skin longevity!

BODY SCRUBS FOR NORMAL SKIN

Using a body scrub, polish, or exfoliator can leave you feeling silky smooth and utterly refreshed.

But what should you look for in a body scrub?

While you may not need any specific ingredients for specific skin problems, you will find that the basics can work wonders.

Sugar, salt, and coffee scrubs are classics for a reason. Sugar and salt feel refreshing and open the skin to accept nutrients from other ingredients in the scrub or from moisturisers.

Coffee does all of this plus it adds a bit of caffeine directly to the skin which may help reduce the appearance of cellulite. And, it smells delicious, of course!

All body scrubs can help improve blood circulation because you are manually stimulating the skin and the tissues directly underneath, causing blood to flow there. You are also causing very minute irritation to the skin, sparking skin cell production, which requires more blood! Over time, this increased blood flow can keep the skin glowing as you age.

As for other ingredients, keep an eye out for things that promote overall skin health.

  • Aloe

  • Shea butter

  • Jojoba oil

  • Vitamin e

  • Olive oil

  • Sunflower oil

  • Glycerin

MOISTURISERS FOR NORMAL SKIN

Just like scrubs, you can choose from just about any moisturising product you’d like and you’ll probably see success with it!

However, you will want to ensure that you always avoid harmful ingredients like TEAs and DEAs, formaldehyde-releasing preservatives, MIT and CMIT, and sulfates.

The benefit of using moisturising products is also similar to the reasons I want to use scrubs. It increases blood circulation, reduces the appearance of cellulite, and nourishes the skin.

When choosing moisturisers, body creams, or body oils for normal skin, look for all of the same ingredients as above.

Make care for your skin a luxurious experience as you remember that you are helping to keep your skin healthy for years to come!
